Demo Days!

Starting January 12, 2013, the Knights of the Gaming Table will be hosting monthly demo days. These will be a good opportunity for new players and those kind of interested to get the low down and try out many of the games we all play and love on Saturdays. Games like Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy, Malifaux, Hordes and Warmachine, and Infinity. All games will be small, and can take as little or as long as you like.

The event will start around 2PM and run till around 5PM, in the hall in front of Hobby Town USA. Drop on by, and give one of these great games a try.

Welcome to 6th edition 40K

Alright, I have four games under my belt, all 1000 points, with all three of my armies. All I gotta say is "Awesome!"
Three of my four games were a blast. The other was a test game for CSM and the new psychic powers. The game was fun, but my test list versus Nabors' beat face list(yes I said Nabors and beat face) not a blast. His overwatch eating my everything didn't really help. Once I got my termies stuck in, though, the fun definitely increased.
As far as the rules, I just finished USRs, but so far, looks good. A bunch of small changes that I know I am going to get stuck on, but mostly the same.
I'm already making a list of rules I played wrong over the weekend, but luckily, there weren't that many.

Highlights:
ICs can't be singled out in combat save for a challenge
Wound allocation is fairly simple, but makes placement much more strategic
Some more that aren't coming to mind.

A few changes I'm not a fan of, but those are all on how they effect what I play.
I still don't get how I get psychic powers.
And why the heck did they take the Target Lock off of my suits?

So, what is everyone else's thoughts?

UPDATE #2:  We have a release date!  Sixth Edition will be in stores June 30th!

Changes have been made below in red.

Sixth Edition is here!

In case you've been living under a cave squiq, in the cave squig's cave, with cave squig ear squigs in your ears, you know that it is the 25th anniversary of Warhammer 40,000 (holy CRAP I'm old!).  What better way to celebrate than with a new edition!  Yes, folks, get out your thinking caps and wallets, the whole shebang is getting reset.  Again.Click below for the teaser video...

http://youtu.be/nef_5gNkGfM

What does the mean for the environment?  Dunno.
What  does this mean for your favorite army?  Dunno?
What does this mean for the Knights of the Gaming Table?...
It means that, as most of you know, the Knights will be presenting the 40k tournament at Tacticon this year.
Let that sink in...

It also means that on Friday night, June 29th, at midnight (Technically the 30th), we will be hosting a Midnight Release Party and late night gaming session for 40K6E!  We will sell the rulebooks, in whatever form they may be in, and anyone who purchases one will get 20% off any OTHER GW product in the store. Then, we will play VIe until we all fall over.

Where:
Hobbytown USA
3500 S. College Ave
Fort Collins, CO 80525
In the basement...

When: Friday, July 29th at Midnight (July 30th)

See you there!

Bizarre Bazaar moved AGAIN.

Okay, so a scheduling gremlin is loose in KOGT headquarters.

The New date for Bizarre Bazaar is June 30th.  No, I will not move it again.

Bizarre Bazaar!

DOUBLE EDIT: Okay, this time I really really actually have the correct date for this.  It has been moved to the 30th, and will take the place of Apocalypse...
EDIT: I posted this yesterday with the wrong date, the date I posted conflicted with the Malifaux final tournament.  The correct date is Saturday the 16th!

WHOOO HOO IT IS BIZARRE BAZAAR!

BIZARRE BAZAAR, COVERED DISH and THUNDER ARMOR SPEED PAINT!!
Saturday, June30th
12:00 - 6:00
Hobbytown USA Basement/KOGT Dungeon
3500 S. College Ave.
Ft Collins, CO 80525

Saturday the 16th, Knights of the Gaming Table will host a "Bizarre Bazaar".  This is an event GW used to throw pretty regularly, but since they haven't sponsored one in a while, we're taking over!

What is this event?  Well, basically, it is a miniature hobby swap meet.  Bring stuff you want to get rid of (related to the hobby) by trade or sale, and come to hustle.  Not using those 2nd edition Orks?  Trade them for Tau! (or don't...)

There will be refreshments, madcappery, and A THUNDER ARMOR MARINE Speed Paint contest.  Yes, I will be giving away FREE Thunder Armor Mareenz.  (Editor's Note: Basically, this whole event is just a pathetic excuse for DB to show off his collection of stuff from 1993 that no one can afford to buy or trade for.)

BLOOOOODDDD BOOOOWLLLL!!!!!

There is a new game in town. OK, so its and old game with a new following. Behold, Blood Bowl. Currently, there are four or five us looking at getting into the game. I already have a Norse team that is converted up and sitting on my painting table. Word on the street is that Patrick is putting together a Human team(which managed to know FIVE of my guys into the casualty box the last time we played. I still won though), Troy is looking into Lizardmen, Shaffer has a box of Dark Elves, though not sure if he will be playing them, and Nate has a little of everything.
So, if you have any interest in the game at all, come on down, give it a whirl, grab a box of the Fantasy army of your choice, do like the rest of us, and make them Blood Bowl teams.
Also, if anyone is looking to take the conversion route in, I am more than willing to help out wherever I can.

Knights' Chronicles

Another weekend has flown by. Pretty easy weekend down in the hole, everyone seemed pretty layed back. Might have had something to do with many nursing hangovers from the night before. Several doing it from home, lazy bastards. Still, the games were definitely rolling. Both Malifaux and 40K saw several games each. There was also a board game that made a surprise apperance.

Nate brought along his Blood Bowl. An interesting game, and despite Nate's and mine good natured hate filled rivalry, I do believe I will be playing it again. I am already working on a Khemri team, with ideas rolling around for a club Norse Team, created from the kindly donation of a dirty thief. Could a custom Pitch be in the works? Maybe!

Knights' Chronicles

Normally, I jump on here, write up what everyone was playing, that things were super fun, and those of you that didn't make it sorely missed out. While all that was true, I want to write today about the awesome that happened after hours. That awesome is Deathwatch and Dark Heresy!

Knights' Chronicles

Pretty exciting weekend down in the hole. Even with all the new space, we ran out of room! We had everything from Infinity to Fantasy to 40K to Malifaux. People painting, people playing, people discussing tactics and eating food stuffs.

It was way more fun than this would make it appear. He isjust concentrating.

Who are all these people? Well, those are the Pathfinder Society peeps, who got the boot from Gryphon's due to some over booking. Glad to have 'em. Rowdy bunch, too.

Painting and Malifaux festivities didn't wrap up until 3:30 in the AM. Talk about rocking it all night long. I am definitely looking forward to next week. I plan to throw down some Malifaux(shocker) and even some Fantasy(say what?) before heading deep into the 41st Millennium for some Deathwatch/Dark Heresy. Hope to see you all there!

Knights' Chronicles

Another week done and gone, but wait, what could this be? Are those painted Genestealers from a Space Hulk set? Could it be it? It must! There are two people who have unpainted Space Hulk sets, and the other one brought his in to paint.

Knights' Chronicles

Could we get any more games going? Why, yes we can, but just barely. I am afraid that the general club MO is starting to die a slow death. No longer do we have one game with 20 people standing around it, now we have 4 or 5 games going at once, with only a few players standing around watching. Could this be the legacy of skirmish? Could games like Infinity and Malifaux actually make more people play? Nah, its something else, because 40K is still alive and strong, and Fantasy is in there somewhere, too.

Knights' Chronicles

Pretty quiet weekend. You know your club is growing when a "quiet weekend" involves a mere 11 players playing games.
The now usual Malifaux was going down, as well as some Infinite. The year of the Skirmish may truly be in swing, because I didn't see any 40K or Fantasy games going on, but there was still plenty of talk.
Look forward to seeing everyone next weekend!

Knights' Chronicles

The league has begun!
The Malifaux League kicked off this weekend. We have 10 players already signed up. The pit was hopping with Malifaux. 4 simultaneous games to start it with a bang. But don't think 4 Malifaux tables shut everything else down. There was still plenty of 40k, Fantasy, and even Infinity to be had. Most games ended kinda early(by Hobby Town standards), leaving just a few people finishing up Malifaux and just general discussion.
I do think DB put it best when he said "2012 is looking to be the year of the skirmish."(Or something like that) Smaller games are definitely on the rise. Who knows, I may even introduce some Operation Kill Zone.

Knights' Chronicles

Holy crap, games! I haven't seen that many people playing games at the same time in a while. It was a fight for space. Fantasy, 40K, Malifaux, even Infinite. Barely room to move. At max I believe we had 5 or 6 games and 1 painting table going simultaneously. It was a riot. Tons of new players, some returning infrequent ones, it was great. We even had some players shoot a video battle report!

I hope everyone had a great time. We are starting our Malifaux league next week, but don't feel like they won't be room for everyone, cause its a small game, and everyone will still be bringing their other stuff. I know I am still looking to get some games. Also, it the first Saturday, so we will be having after hours painting.

Iron Man Painting 4: Genghiscon 2012

Well, another one down. After 25+ hours of painting in one weekend, we can put another Iron Man to bed. Paint was flying, smack was talked, and movies were watched. A good time was had by all.

Knights' Chronicles

Last weekends action saw Fantasy return to the tables. Dwarves versus Tomb Kings and High Elves versus Skaven. Dwarves and High Elves won. Tomb Kings cried like a ***** and rage quit. It also saw a Malifaux Demo in preparation for the upcoming league.
The event of the night, however, was Munchkin Zombies! It was a 6 player fight to the finish. Well, 5 players, one kinda fell behind. At the end, it was just a matter of who tried to fight a Zombie first, because the next player would win. And the next player was DB.

Don't forget, next weekend is the Iron Man Painting Competition for Genghiscon 2012!

KOGT Shirt...first look.

What have we here?  Are we going legit or something?  This is the finalized shirt design from Ghengis forward.  Shirts are going to be $20, with profit going to terrain repair.  Get over to the PREORDER THREAD and get your size and quantity in.  And tell that designer guy how much of a badass he is.

Knights' Chronicles

Another week down at the Hobby Town. The name of the game this week was Puppet Wars. I managed to rope people into not one, but two four player games of Puppet Wars. Being my first games as well, I found it very enjoyable, and can see where players can come up with the rotten combos. I think I will stick with the random draw method, just to keep things kinda under control.
Puppet Wars was not the only game related activities this last weekend, many players from Dark Heresy levels up their characters in prep for the Badab sector. Though Deathwatch didn't happen, there was plenty of talk about Dark Heresy.
Next week looks to be a Fantasy Malifaux prep fest with players for both Genghiscon events trying to get games in. And the week after that is the painting competition, so get those models ready, cause I am bringing the heat.

Knights' Chronicles

Wow, no pictures, shocker. Anyway, apparently people actually read this, because before I arrived it was packed! When I showed up around 7ish, pretty empty, but chairs everywhere.
There was some Dark Heresy to be had, though. And had it was! In one game session, we gained 5! levels. That's not exactly how it went down, be we did have an awesome climax to our current mission. A daemon was banished, killing or prideful inquisitor in the process. After discovering some alien technology we begin a ten year investigation to get to the bottom of the of the alien involvement.
We are now able to fit in with our Space Marines and have almost completed our respective career choice.
I have to say, I am super excited. And the Scum pay scale isn't as awesome as it might appear.
See you all this Saturday.

Knights' Chronicles

Ooooo, a fancy new title. Well, a new title anyway. Not a lot of activity these last two holiday weekends. Mostly just Troy and I throwing down a game of Tau versus Nids. I won both. Morally. A couple of people we don't see often even stopped by yesterday to say hi. I ran out of time to play Scott some Malifaux, I think Troy was slow playing. Jack also dropped by, I think to see if the club still lived. We informed him it did, so hopefully we will see both in the coming weeks. I still owe Scott a rematch and hopefully I will be able to get Ramos on the field.
I won't be there during the day next Saturday, but I will get a Dark Heresy update posted. No, I didn't stutter, Heresy, not Deathwatch. Yay!
Till then, may the Dice Gods give you nothing but 6's. Except on leadership, cause that would SUCK.
